In this episode, we visit the UK in Escape to the Country and discuss the entrepreneurial possibilities of cat yurt rentals. Then we head to New Mexico, where Jason gives a rousing speech about the overlooked merits of Better Call Saul (#KingOfTheHillenergy). Jax attempts to make a similar argument for Agent Carter (RIP). Enthusiasm: 10. Convincing argument: …still working on it. Other discussions: Glass, Green Book, Mary Queens of Scots, and the abomination known as Velvet Buzzsaw.
Episode 24: On the Origin of the Geekies
Welcome back Observers! In this off-kilter episode we talk about our individual evolution as media lovers. We discuss some of our adolescent loves including the X-Men and Jonathan Taylor Thomas (who doesn’t love a good bowl cut). Is it possible there are too many podcasts? You can trust it doesn’t stop us from getting into some of our original favorites and what drew us to the genre we shatter and heighten with every episode of Observe and Report. Also you never asked for it, but Jason is going to give it to you…HE TALKS ABOUT WRESTLING AND ANIME (you’ve been warned). Finally we get into the new American pastime of passive watching and we discuss some of our favorite shows that we love to have on, but never watch.
Episode 23: Perfectly Ripe Manganiellos
Happy (belated) New Year! We’re back with another episode of your two favorite nerds talking about movies. We close out 2018 with a couple of superhero surprises as we review Aquaman and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse! We talk about the crime of wasting a good, ripe Manganiello in a summer blockbuster. Our discussions bring us back to merry old postwar England as we discuss Season 2 of Father Brown. We get into the horror sensation Birdbox and how it’s secretly a sequel to Ocean’s 8. Also we guarantee this is probably the only podcast that is going to go on an in depth discussion of Maze Runner: The Death Cure. Thanks for listening and subscribing!
Episode 22: Duhamel & Olyphant- The New Parent Trap
The debate rages on! Is Timothy Olyphant actually Josh Duhamel? Are we looking at a government experiment on cloning gone terribly…right? In this episode we go over season 2 of Justified and we watch our weight as we dip into Santa Clarita Diet. We touch upon the critically acclaimed Widows and stress about its success against winter blockbusters. We take a trip to England to get down with Father Brown as he solves crimes (not the sexy kind of crime). We come out about our mutual love of The Maze Runner Series of films and books and our mutual dislike of “Chosen Ones”. We get into the beauty of counter-programming and how 2008’s Mama Mia is straight up gangster for going up against The Dark Knight on their shared opening weekend. If you care for the rare space comedy Jason made Jax review Galaxy Quest! Also Jason goes over the little seen, but highly funny Bajillion Dollar Properties. This is the last cast of 2018. Enjoy until next year!
Episode 21: Kings, Beasts, and Creeds
We’ve got a double sized episode for you! In this episode we discuss the thanksgiving blockbusters of Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindlewald and Creed II. We enjoy the charming nature of Sandra Oh in the assassin thriller of Killing Eve. We also take a trip back to 1996 to discuss the indie darling Mid 90’s. We have lengthy conversation about the release of the Lion King trailer for the upcoming 2019 film and our misgivings with Disney live-action remakes. Jason heaps praise upon Mt. D’onofrio in Daredevil Season 3. We get into the recent proliferation of Westerns in pop-culture in our discussion of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and Justified. Also we are mildly disappointed in our pining for Chris Pine in The Outlaw King. Jason Tortures Jax with The Lost Boys. Jason Packs his bags and takes a vacation to England for Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

In this episode rounding out the spookiness of October with our discussions of Over the Garden Wall, 2018’s Halloween, and The Monster Squad. Also, The Husband List is updated with not one, but 2 new members! Old Husbands may be gone, but they are never forgotten. Jason magnificently filibusters against absolutely no one to defend the honor and quality of one of his favorite shows, King of the Hill. Jax gives us an update on the final voyage of The Last Ship as it crests over the horizon of television history. Also the Observers lament and eulogize The Walking Dead as it goes through some major growing pains in the loss of its main character Rick Grimes.

Episode 19: October Observations
Tis the season for ghouls and goblins. On this free flowing episode we’re talking about the most wonderful time of the year: Halloween! We’re chat about the lawlessness of candy cereals, our best Halloween costumes, and the stark realization that horror movies are a communal experience. Jason runs down his horror favorites and Jax reminisces about the few but pivotal horror films she’s seen. We give a salute to the acting talents of Mr. Devon Sawa and the dry cutting wit of Christina Ricci in 1996’s Casper. We also cross over to the terrifying halls of the Event Horizon where we discuss how Sam Neil is not as nice as he seems. Also we run down some family Halloween favorites on this spooky edition of Observe and Report.
Episode 18: Sorghum-The Silent Killer
So there you are at the prime of your life. You’ve met the person you’re going to spend the rest of your days with. You’ve just won a rugby championship. Also did I mention that you’re a Hemsworth? Then BOOM. You drown in pit full of Sorghum. Happens every time. So many young white hunks taken down by loose grain….Did I mention that we reviewed The Dressmaker in this episode? We also discuss how to get away with felonies in France after our joint viewing of the 1997 action-thriller Ronin. We run down Netflix’s promising Maniac which reunites those starcrossed lovers Jonah Hill and Emma Stone which puts us on a Cloud Atlas tangent. We go over the enduring legacy of Transformers via The Toys That Made us and discuss the ever controversial Big Mouth.
