We’re going off the beaten path on this episode to discuss our mysterious and shocking origins! It’s a tale of betrayal, exorcism, memory loss, and a love of movies. We delve into our 13 year history as friends as we approach the close of our first year in the podcasting business. Also we give a couple shoutouts to listeners and those who have helped us make it to 17 episodes of audio gold. We give you a little behind the scenes taste of how the magic is made and what’s on the horizon for the coming weeks. We also delve into some of our personal favorites like The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, and Jurassic Park. And of course, what would an episode of Observe and Report be if we didn’t discuss our great friend, and consistent patron Gerard “Gerry” Butler.
Episode 16: The Ballad of Lamont Washington
The Podcast is now legally old enough to drive! To celebrate, we discuss French crime dramas that Jason wildly misinterprets the plot of. We round out the end of summer with reviews of Black Klansman and The Predator. We get into the simple beauty of a disposable comedy with a quick rundown of 2018’s Game Night. We get a fix for our sweet tooth as we get back into the Great British Bake Off and the legality of names. We do a showcase of Netflix hidden gems with a discussion about Sierra Burgess is a Loser and season 2 of American Vandal. The true lineage of Dakota Johnson is revealed and it may shock you (probably not, Jason is just ignorant). Also we discuss the sweet drone work of Abandoned and the truest exploration of platonic love featured in Detroiters.
Episode 15: Burgers and Lies
In this episode we learned the tragic origin of McDonald’s through our viewing of 2016’s The Founder. It’s important to note that this has not at all affected our eating habits. In other words, we’re still loving it. We also take a quick trip to the Garden State to take a loving look at one of 2017’s unsung best, Patticake$. It’s a tale of tribulations, triumph , and some dope rhymes. We celebrate a reality show that actually helps people instead of exploiting them as we delve into Queer Eye. Also, Jason almost gets uninvited from Jax’s and Henry Cavill’s wedding. Jason takes a quick jaunt Back to the Future and Jax opens up about The Closer.
An Attack, an Apocalypse, and an Annihilation
In this episode, Jason and Jax discuss their disgust with How It Ends, a pointless movie that we’re still recovering from, in addition to the junk-less homonculus in Attack on Titan, and the mysteries of Annihilation. No podcasters were harmed in the recording of this episode.
We also talk about The Incredibles 2, IT, Deadwood, and a string of terrible viewing choices made by Jason.
Episode: 13 GLOW-ing Reviews
Recorded at the peak of summer we discuss the movie that was on everyone's minds...Uncle Drew! We also get into the sex appeal of of a five o'clock shadow combined with a nice curly haircut. We also have an in-depth discussion on Season 2 of Glow (spoilers abound). We lament the lack of Michael Peña in our lives after watching Ant-Man and The Wasp. Jason finally crosses the Bridge of Spies and Jax finds no solace in The Raid: Redemption.
Episode 12: Jax vs Scott Pilgrim vs the World
In this episode, we discuss the tragic plight of a brachiosauras in Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom, the illogical (and sometimes infuriating) twists and turns of Beyond Skyline, and the uncomfortable role women play in Scott Pilgrim vs the World. And, as it turns out, this IS episode 12. ...we still can't count.
Episode 11: Oceans Great
In this episode we review Ocean's Eight, discuss strong female leads with insect obsessions and we argue about the correct pronunciation of Tonya. We give a beginners review of Doctor Who, Jason has a traumatic flashback to the greatest sin of 2010 "Skyline" and Jasx gives the sweet science in her Gerard Butler film treatment.
Episode 10: Solo: An...okay movie
In this week's episode, Jason and Jax discuss the characters, controversies, and capes from Solo: A Star Wars Story, and some disappointments with Deadpool 2. Jax begins the grieving process for the upcoming final season of The Last Ship and melts Jason's mind with her deep knowledge of Katie Holmes' personal life. Finally, Jason pitches a film that NEEDS to be made: 30 Days to Fight. Start stretching, Gerry, ya got another movie to make.
